This long established Veronese family company, headed by Giorgio Montresor, produces wines which increasingly rival the offerings of the region's more fashionable names.
Spagorosso denoted the use of the red string which ties the cork. Many years ago the string was tied by hand and was a traditional job for women in Venice.
Originally made by the award winning Ann Gremillet and focussing on the care and very light touch that is brought to winemaking by women (hence Cuvée des Dames) is the top cuvee of her range. Now made by Jean- Christophe Gremillet under her instruction.
The Gremillet estate comprises of 33 hectares of vineyards and is situated in a small village 45 kilometres from Troyes, the historic capital of Champagne, 180 kilometres south of Paris. The vines lie on steep, sun-drenched hillsides, ideal for creating a classic baked biscuit, rich fruit Champagne.

With 3,000 hectares of vines and an ultra-modern winery, Concha y Toro is at the forefront of the Chilean wine industry. The size of their vineyard holding puts them in a unique position as they can control the excellence of the fruit from vintage to vintage. Their passion for quality results in wines with strong varietal characters.
This wine comes from the Gard region which lies at the southern end of the Rhône valley, a river valley which stretches from Lyon in the north to the Mediterranean delta in the south. A Viognier of intense power, character and zest. Rich fruit flavours of peach, apricot and pear dominate the senses. It is rich and creamy on the palate but remains very balanced and textural with a clean, fresh finish.
Planted all around the vineyard are orchards of apricot trees and the sent and flavour of apricots in this wine is very apparent.
With vineyards situated in the Waihopai, Awatere and Upper Wairau areas of Marlborough, Ant Moore wines have minerality, complexity and great balance. Control and hands-on management of the vineyards and the winemaking process, creates rich wines, with ripe flavours and texture and fresh lifted aromas, signatures of Ant Moore Wines.
Zesty citrus flavours with white stone fruits. Hints of gooseberry with a full palate finishing with a lovely balance of texture, weight and clean refreshing finish.
The 67 hectare Finca Fuenteseca estate lies in Utiel Requena, a high, rugged plateau nearly 1,000 metres above sea level just inland from Valencia. The combination of hot, dry summers, cold nights and poor, limestone soil make the area relatively free of vine diseases and so ideal for organic farming. The entire estate is now dedicated to organic production and produces this spicy red, combining a local grape variety, Bobal, with an international one, Cabernet Sauvignon.
Situated in the communes of Saint Martial and Saint Laurent du Bois, in the appellation of Côtes de Bord Saint Macaire, this holding is owned by Lawrence Mazeau Bergstrom. His family acquired the property in 1928 when it was known as Castle Toutigeac and have expanded the vineyards to 140 hectares. Bel Orme Martial has won numerous awards, the most recent being the Concours Général Agricole de Paris.

McLaren Vale is the gateway to the Fleurieu Peninsular south of Adelaide in South East Australia. It has built a reputation for the subtlety of its red wines compared to many of its Australian counterparts and has several quality boutique wineries. Who is Mr Smith? The man who makes this Shiraz, Ant Moore (aka Mr Smith), was inspired to use the name Mr Smith when he returned in 2008 to Australia from New Zealand where he has built fame and an excellent reputation as a wine maker. His view was that good wine does not need a well-known name to sell it, hence the anonymous name. Mr Smith.
Chablis is the northernmost district of Burgundy. The soil is Kimmeridge clay containing the same chalk layer found in the White Cliffs of Dover. The grapevines around the town of Chablis are mostly, like this wine, Chardonnay. Chardonnay makes a dry white wine renowned for the purity of its aroma and taste. La Colombe is typical of what decent Chablis should taste like - not a trace of oak, pungent and flinty on the nose with a suggestion of soft fruit underneath which gets richer as the mineral characters give way to riper, buttery sensations.
The Loire has a formidable reputation for producing wines that compliment French cooking. Its estuary opens into the Atlantic so it is no surprise that this Sancerre is excellent with fish and shellfish. The flavours in this wine, from Jean Jacques Breton, are dry, crisp and elegant with fresh gooseberry fruit being the dominant taste. The palate is rich and well balanced with refreshing acidity. This wine is named “La Clochette” (little bell) because it is as crisp and clear as a bell.
This wine takes its name from La Madone, the hilltop chapel dedicated to the Madonna, which overlooks the Fleurie vineyards in Beaujolais. The word arenite describes the type of soil which makes up the 800 hectares of Fleurie vineyards and is key to producing the style of Fleurie. This is a perfumed, aromatic wine with distinct floral notes and a silky elegant feel with blackcurrant and red berry fruit. This is probably why Fleurie is considered to be the most feminine of the Beaujolais crus.
Côtes de Beaune Villages is a good intermediary wine between regional Burgundy and Crus wines. The Louis Jadot Cuvée is mainly selected from grapes grown in the villages of Chorley-Les-Beaune and Ladoix and is aged for 12 months in 2-3 year old casks. This Louis Jadot Côtes de Beaune wine is young, fruity and juicy packed with aromas of red fruits and cherries. Aged one year in oak barrels, the wine shows a good structure but will be most enjoyed with light dishes or on its own.

Nieto Senetiner has grown to become one of the leading stars of Mendoza. The vineyards and winery were developed in 1969 and continue to be extended and updated. Nieto have vineyards in virtually all of the best sub districts of Mendoza from which they produce typical and classic wines, characterised by the uniquely appealing balance of power and finesse that defines the best wines of Mendoza. This Malbec comes from very old vineyards in the famed sub-district of Agrelo and is fully deserving of its iconic status.
This rosé is from a modern producer situated in the foothills of the Trentino mountains in northeast Italy. It is made of 3 grape varieties, Chardonnay, Merlot and Teroldego (a red grape variety native to this area) and is fresh and dry with a good lasting mousse. It has a cherry pink colour with red barry characters on the nose and palate giving it a soft and very attractive character.

Founded in 1973 by Andrea Visintini, this twenty-four hectare estate has vineyards in Collio, Collio Orientali and Grave del Friuli and is now managed and run by the new generation of Oliviero, Cinzia and Palmira Visintini.
This Pinot Grigio is known as 'ramato' because of its pale copper pink tinge which comes entirely naturally from the skins of the grapes. Pinot Grigio is a red skinned grape and the colour of this wine is achieved by leaving the wine in contact with the skins for longer than is usual for Pinot production. There is great texture of fruit beautifully balanced with a mineral acidity making it a really interesting and elegant wine.
While several notable Scots and English families (Graham, Warre and Taylor, for example) emigrated to the Douro valley in the 18th century, the Niepoorts arrived from the Netherlands and have been an independent family business since 1842, situated in the historical centre of Vila Nova de Gaia.
Dirk Niepoort now runs the firm, with great dedication and enthusiasm. Niepoort was formerly more well-known for its Colheita wines but they also make some exceptional Douro wines too.
Drink Me - the name was the idea of artist Regina Pessoa who was inspired by Lewis Carroll and fascinated by the characters in Alice in Wonderland – has a lovely ruby color, with plenty of red fruit and tea leaf aromas with slightly spicy notes. It is very fresh on the palate with a good length, good structure and well integrated tannins.
